In the story of my life, I will remember 2023 as a rollercoaster of highs and lows, marked by significant personal loss, and also the dawn of new friendships, community bonds, and a renewed sense of purpose. It was a devastating, beautiful, and soul-searching year and it changed me.
As I consider the last twelve months, I recognize that perhaps my biggest learning was that sometimes in our darkest times we grow the most.
Here are a few of my favorite highlights from 2023:
Art Expansion
My artwork business not only endured in 2023, it thrived. I doubled down on my creative inspirations and headed to Central America to paint, and later to a temporary studio on the Maine Coast to pour myself into a new artwork series dedicated to the places I explored as a child. I listened to the teachings of Wayne Dyer and my heart felt consoled. Art became a refuge and a statement that life's rhythm continues.
Mainsail Art Festival
2023 marked my debut in this esteemed community event, and big love to everyone who came out in support. The joy of seeing so many familiar faces while also meeting new people, designers, gallerists, and collectors, coupled with the invigoration of selling artwork, made it a truly thrilling experience. To those who walked home with a painting, thank you. I hope it brings you joy for years to come.
Sucessful Art Series
The success of my 2023 Florida Series, dedicated to sunset on the gulf coast, feels nothing short of amazing. Most of the artwork from this collection sold, which means everyting to me. Explore the remaining available works from this series here.
Featured in Your Are A Badass
A personal milestone unfolded for me when I was invited to share my story for a feature Jen Sincero's 10th Anniversary Edition of "You Are a Badass." I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with Jen about my journey from corporate employee to artist, and the impact her book had on my life. Finding her signed copy on my doorstep was an extra fun surprise! Moral of the story: Don't let imposter syndrome hold you back from living the life you want to live, friends!
Art Trip to Panama
My trip to Panama was an enchanting painting adventure and a wonderful rendezvous with old friends. I was fascinated by their off-the-map world of remote sunshine and surf, rosy sunsets, pineapple mint smoothies, and jungle kitties. Read more about this trip here.
A Note About Loss
On a personal note, I lost my Dad unexpectedly in 2023 along with several other mentors and friends. My cat died. My heart was broken and I faced the saddest, darkest, hardest times of my life so far. I am so much more aware now of how fragile and precious life is.
Thank You
As I reflect on 2023 and the close of this chapter in my life, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the support of my family and broader community throughout this last year. I look forward to many more exciting opportunities on the horizon in 2024 and I am honored to be able to share them with you. Thank you for finding me and stay tuned for more art updates as the year unfolds.
