Crafting Custom Art For Interior Spaces

Crafting Custom Art For Interior Spaces

When my collectors purchased a waterfront condo on the Gulf Coast as their second home, they wanted to leave their northern roots behind and fully embrace the essence of Florida living. They wanted a space that felt like a luxury coastal retreat—relaxed, elegant, and unmistakably Floridian. As for what they brought to decorate? Just a soap dish. Literally.

To bring their vision to life, they enlisted the help of renowned Tampa interior designer, Julianne Hendrickson, who created a fresh and airy space that epitomizes the resort vibe. Her design features soft whites, coastal pastels, luxurious furnishings and decor, all anchored by warm wood floors and accented with polished gold details.

Adding Custom Fine Art
When the interior was nearing completion, I was invited to propose options for their walls, focusing on the entranceway which had a large wall available. Inspired by the location of their home, I envisioned a sunset scene created from the beach just steps away from their condo. We measured the space together and reviewed samples, sizes, settling on a large, square 4'x4' size.

The process of creating the large painting began with small, on-site composition studies, to capture the colors and atmosphere in real time. I would later bring these studies into the studio to expand into the larger final painting.

Back in my studio, I experimented with palette and composition options that I knew would complement Julianne's interior design and transformed these studies into a larger, final painting, using the gestural impressionist style my clients love about my work.

To ensure the painting harmonized with its surroundings, I noted the condo’s soft sea glass entrance tiles, gold accents, and serene color palette, incorporating these elements into the overall painting. The result was a piece that felt deeply connected to the space:

Finally, to complete the painting, the owners selected a whitewashed driftwood frame with a gold-leaf face from my curated frame collection. We loved this frame so much because it echoes the condo’s gold accents and fixtures while its deep, textured profile adds a luxurious, coastal touch. The gold face highlights the sunset tones in the painting, perfectly balancing coastal charm with the clients’ refined taste.
